Advice offered on arthritic conditions

31 Oct 2008

New advice has been offered by a group of experts on living with conditions such as arthritis pain and psoriasis.

Medical News Today reports that pain is not necessarily "a typical part of aging" and cites tips from MayoClinic.com that can help sufferers cope with various conditions that could be the cause of this.

It states that osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint disease, can occur in any joint of the human body and although no cure exists, remaining active can help manage it.

Rheumatoid arthritis is noted as a condition that attacks the lining of the joint and can be spotted when these areas begin to ache. Psoriatic arthritis, on the other hand is an inflammatory condition that can be indicated via a change in skin condition.

"Coping with aches and pains is a constant challenge. Individuals should try to learn as much about their conditions from health care providers, support groups and health associations," the site advises.

This week a new website, psoriasisuncovered.ie, was launched that seeks to draw attention to the effects of psoriasis and offer support to sufferers.
