Understanding eczema
What is eczema? Eczema, also called dermatitis, is inflammation of the skin that can appear just about anywhere on the body. Understanding as much as you can about eczema will help you manage your eczema more successfully.
Eczema is a complex condition which effects people of all ages. There are lots of elements to it with different types, causes and treatments.
The different types of eczema include, atopic, contact dermatitis, seborrhoeic, nummular/discoid, pompholyx and stasis eczema. They all may look, feel, and be triggered by different factors.
Atopic eczema, the most common type of eczema in children, is often inherited. There are a number of common triggers.
The treatment you need for your eczema depends partly on how severe your eczema is, what type of eczema you have and also on which treatment your skin responds to. Therefore, if you think you may have eczema, consult your doctor who will be able to advise on the best treatment for you.
